Frame the decision correctly
Booking is not just a time-selection screen. Service duration, preparation intervals, staff availability, and operations sharing the same resource must all be considered together. First, map out who can provide which service and during what hours. Time zones must be clearly displayed, especially when scheduling appointments across different countries.
What should be considered during implementation?
Test the scenario where two people select the last available slot simultaneously. If prepayment is required, a failed or incomplete payment should not permanently lock the calendar slot. Present cancellation and modification terms before the booking is finalized; receiving a notification should not imply that the booking is confirmed.
Verification and next steps
Determine which system holds the master record when using external calendar connections. Duplicate notifications must not create the same appointment twice. If the integration fails, the customer must be shown a clear status, and the operations team must receive a traceable error log.
Your quick checklist
- Define resources and durations.
- Test for overlapping bookings.
- Display the cancellation terms in advance.
