From product to order

A product name and price are not enough for a store. Factors such as variants, inventory tracking, images, delivery information, and post-order communication must be considered together. If the same product is sold in different sizes, determine how these options will be distinguished from one another. Incomplete product information can lead to constant backtracking during the design phase.

Payment is more than just a link

A customer returning from the payment screen does not mean the order has been definitively paid for. The system must process the verified notification from the provider. Payment statuses such as failed, pending, or refunded must be displayed separately. One should not assume that payment collection will be ready before the actual provider account verifications and operational conditions are in place.

Plan the human element

Who will prepare the order when it arrives, who will answer questions, and who will update stock levels when they change? The answers to these questions are just as important as the software itself. Define return and invoicing policies with your authorized experts and align them with the actual processes on the site. When evaluating a commerce proposal, share details regarding product volume and operational needs together.

Your quick checklist

  • Prepare variant and stock data.
  • Evaluate payment statuses separately.
  • Designate the person responsible for the order.
